Radiofrequency Skin Tightening
Skin laxity is an inevitable sign of ageing. As skin ages, it starts to lose the collagen and elastin that gives it structure and plumpness.
Loose and crepe skin on the upper arms – along with fatty deposits and cellulite – may leave your arms looking older than other parts of your body.
Radiofrequency skin tightening is a simple, non-surgical procedure that can help to improve the contours of the upper arms, reducing ‘bingo wings’ and fatty deposits.

Frequently asked questions
What is radiofrequency skin tightening?
Radiofrequency skin tightening is an increasingly popular, non-invasive, non-ablative rejuvenation treatment for toning and firming skin.
It can help to reduce skin laxity on the face and body.
It may also improve collagen production, leaving your skin looking and feeling plumper as well as firmer.
As a safe and effective anti-ageing treatment, radiofrequency skin tightening is used to treat sagging arms and:
- lines and wrinkles
- fat around the neck
- dark eye circles
- eye hollows
- some forms of acne
- scarring.
Radiofrequency is safe for all skin types, including darker skins, is pain-free and has little or no downtime.
How does it work?
Radiofrequency skin tightening uses radio waves to penetrate deep into the skin, improving lymphatic flow in the skin and the stimulation of collagen fibres. This helps to regenerate lost collagen and elastin, causing tightening and improvements to the underlying tissue structure. Heating collagen results in remodelling of scars, and wrinkles
What happens during the treatment?
Before we begin the procedure, you may need to wash your face with soap and warm water. This is to remove any makeup and skin oils that might affect how well the radiofrequency treatment works. We can apply a topical anesthetic cream to your skin, to help numb the skin slightly, if needed. (We remove the cream using alcohol cleansers immediately before starting the procedure.) At the start of the procedure, we mark out the area of skin to be treated. This helps guide the device delivering the radiofrequency energy over whole area, evenly and without overlapping. The device head transmits heat energy, so you will feel a pleasant warming sensation without discomfort. After the procedure, we apply a soothing gel or lotion to your skin. Most procedures can be completed in less than an hour. You should be able to return to work or carry on with your day immediately afterwards. Immediately following the procedure, your skin will feel tighter, with more tightening improvements appearing gradually over the following few months.
Are there any side effects?
You may have some mild redness in the treated area of skin, which normally lasts for up to 24 hours. In the 24-hour period immediately after radiofrequency treatment, avoid rubbing any creams or lotions on the treated skin. We also recommend that you not consume alcohol or caffeine directly after the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the area needing treatment. You may see a result from your first 2 or 3 radiofrequency treatments. However, most people find the best results achieved after a course of 6 to 8 sessions. We recommend a 3 to 4 week interval between treatment sessions.
How long do the results last?
You should expect the results of your radiofrequency treatment to last up to 2 years.
